Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. Announce the Release of Solutions For Spectral Identification

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostic products, today announced the release of KnowItAll® ATR/IR ID Expert and Raman ID Expert solutions for spectral identification.

KnowItAll ATR/IR ID Expert and Raman ID Expert are new technologies that combine Bio-Rad's years of accumulated knowledge in the field of spectroscopy with advanced computational power to provide the fastest, most accurate answers possible to scientists identifying unknown infrared and Raman spectra.

"The spectral intelligence built into KnowItAll ATR/IR ID Expert combined with the world's largest spectral reference collection provides the highest level of expertise to any scientist, whether a novice or power user," said Gregory M. Banik, Ph.D., Bio-Rad General Manager, Informatics.

Scientists often employ multiple software tools to identify a spectrum depending on its chemical composition and the availability of reference spectra, and even the most experienced researchers can misinterpret results, particularly if they choose the wrong software tool.

With ATR/IR ID Expert and Raman ID Expert, the user simply opens an unknown spectrum and the software automatically performs single and multiple component searches as well as functional group analyses simultaneously and summarizes the results on a single screen to give a complete view of all possibilities for the unknown spectrum.

If there are problems with the user's query spectrum, ID Expert has the spectral intelligence to identify these issues and suggest ways to fix them. Once the user has identified the unknown spectrum, a PDF report can be generated with a single click.

This unique combination of spectral software combined with high-quality spectral reference data gives ID Expert users the most advanced technology now available for IR and Raman spectral identification.
