Spansion Inc., a global leader in embedded systems solutions, has been awarded Huawei Green Certification in recognition of Spansion's ability to ensure product content and manufacturing processes meet or exceed Huawei's stringent green requirements. The certification is given following a strict qualification process and is valid for two years.
This new certification from Huawei for Spansion's environmental conscientiousness follows on the heels of a Green IT Award in 2013 from the Green IT Promotion Council in Asia. Spansion has received technical support and supplier awards for our flash memory products and service from Huawei annually since 2009 and environmental awards from a variety of organizations since 2005.
"Huawei has always embraced environmental protection as a crucial part of its sustainable development," said Mr. Sean Yin, president of Huawei Global Procurement Department. "The Huawei Green Partner program was established to encourage suppliers to produce components with minimal environmental impact. We're happy to distinguish Spansion with this certification."
Huawei's Green Partner certification demands the elimination of banned or controlled hazardous materials, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and the development of environmental audits and action plans. Suppliers must meet these requirements and demonstrate compliance through an on-site audit to achieve Huawei Green Partner status.
"Spansion is committed to providing a green and safe workplace for our employees and our community, and is accountable at all levels of the organization for continuous improvement and compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements," said SL Chan, vice president, Field Sales, Spansion. "That makes this prestigious recognition from Huawei especially rewarding."
