H.C. Starck have announced that its Fabricated Products Division has received a 2013 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. H.C. Starck maintained a Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013.
“H.C. Starck is committed to the aerospace industry. With positive growth outlook for the next 5-10 years, it represents a solid growth opportunity for us. But more importantly, achieving supplier excellence and recognition from some of the leading, demanding companies in the field such as Boeing is very meaningful. It is another step in our Continuous Improvement journey which is a foundation of company strategy,” said Dmitry Shashkov, Member of H.C. Starck's Executive Board and Head of the Fabricated Products Division.
Being one of the leading suppliers to the aviation industry, H.C. Starck provides high tech materials, excellent quality and on time delivery that meet the stringent requirements of Boeing from its robust supply chain using conflict-free materials. Contributing to its reliable and secure supply chain is H.C. Starck’s Responsible Supply Chain Management System (RSCM).
RSCM helps H.C. Starck avoid sourcing materials from conflict regions or from suppliers that do not act in line with environmental and social sustainability. The term “conflict minerals” applies to minerals (including tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold) that have originated in conflict regions where production and trade are closely connected with ongoing abuse of human rights.
H.C. Starck’s Tantalum supply chain passed a third consecutive audit under the Conflict-Free Smelter (CFS) Validation Program. The program is being recognized and adapted by many metal industries determined to eliminate unethical sources of raw material from their supply chains.
