Ambrell, a leading manufacturer of induction heating systems, has sold two EASYHEAT 10 kW, 150-400 kHz induction heating systems to a manufacturer of pipe grippers for the oil and gas industry.
The heating application involves heating two grippers in one coil. Two parts or grippers – which are steel faces with carbides in place – are placed into the coil. They are heated to 1400 °F (760 °C) within 90 seconds. The carbides are then pressed into their joints.
The client took advantage of Ambrell’s application testing to prove out their process. Application testing is complimentary and provides clients with peace-of-mind that their application will work as desired before investing in equipment.
The client also chose to purchase Ambrell’s eVIEW temperature monitoring software. Additionally, they purchased a temperature controller and optical pyrometer. eVIEW enables the monitoring and tracking of part temperature, power, frequency, coil operating parameters and more. This is ideal for quality control and audits.
Ambrell has expertise with numerous heating applications for the oil and gas industry. Curing tube and pipe coatings, pre- and post-weld heating, drill pipe heat treatment, and preheating drill bits for insert brazing are some of the popular induction applications. Induction is often favored because it provides rapid, controllable, non-contact, efficient heat.
Ambrell was founded nearly 30 years ago and has sold more than 10,000 systems into over 50 countries. For more information about Ambrell, visit www.ambrell.com or call +1 585-889-9000.
