New Additions to IONICON Trace Gas Analyzer Series to be Showcased at Pittcon 2015

A fast GC add-on for PTR-TOFMS trace gas analyzers and the new PTR-QiTOF are now available.

IONICON, the Austrian based leading manufacturer of PTR-MS real-time trace VOC analyzers presents the new PTR-QiTOF and the PTR-TOF 1000, complementing its PTR-TOF trace gas analyzer series. Both instruments can optionally be equipped the new fast GC add-on, combining Gas Chromatographic separation with real-time trace VOC analysis.

PTR-QiTOF

Featuring a Quadrupole ion guide (Qi), the new PTR-QiTOF achieves a performance, no other commercial PTR-TOFMS system has ever been able to demonstrate before.

Scientists can expect up to 25x more sensitivity, one order of magnitude lower detection limit and 20% higher mass resolution.

This boost in sensitivity is especially beneficial for cutting edge applications like eddy-covariance flux measurements, where ultra-low VOC concentrations have to be quantified with more than 10 Hz.

The high time-resolution and sensitivity of IONICON PTR-TOF instruments enable flux measurements of biogenic VOCs, providing new insights to our understanding of the atmospheric VOC budget by studying active atmosphere-ecosystem exchange of a vast number of BVOCs.

Fast GC – a new dimension of insight

IONICON PTR-TOF systems are capable of measuring trace gas samples in real-time with a high mass resolving power. The new “fastGC” module adds an optional chemical pre-separation step before the analysis.

The module consists of a short GC column with an advanced heating concept for ultra-fast heating and equally fast cooling rates which makes this pre-separation step nearly real-time.

The fastGC module is integrated with the PTR-TOF and the normal sample gas inlet is utilized. This allows researchers to perform real-time measurements and add fastGC runs at time points of interest for enhanced separation and identification.

PTR-TOF 1000

The PTR-TOF 1000 is by far the most affordable, smallest and also lightweight system available on the market.

It has already been successfully deployed on NASA flight measurement campaigns and will continue being used on challenging flight campaigns as well as in laboratories all around the world.

It provides all the advantages of a powerful time of flight based solutions: the entire mass range in split-seconds and higher resolution for better separation and identification.

Experience a live demonstration of the PTR-TOF 1000 at our booth # 2443 at Pittcon 2015, 9-12 March 2015, New Orleans, LA, USA.

About IONICON

IONICON Analytik GmbH was founded in 1998 to commercialize the unique Proton Transfer Reaction – Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS), recently adding the proprietary Selective Reagent Ionization – Mass Spectrometry (SRI-MS) technology.

Over 250 leading scientists, institutions and multinational corporations are among IONICON’s customers. They rely on PTR-MS instruments for results in real-time at one out of a trillion parts (LoD < 1 pptv) but without time-consuming sample preparation procedures.
