RUSAL, a top three global aluminium producer, has invested a further $23.2 million in the launch of a second production line which adds 850 million aluminium beverage cans to the annual capacity of its ROSTAR-Vsevolzhsk plant in the Leningrad Region.
With the second fully operational production line fitted with cutting-edge U.S., German and British 0.5-litrebeverage can manufacturing technology, ROSTAR-Vsevolzhsk will produce 1,700 million aluminium cans annually, boosting the total capacity of RUSAL's two ROSTAR plants to 3,000 million cans per year. The company's total investment in ROSTAR-Vsevolzhsk has reached $100 million.
«Demand for canned products has steadily increased over the last eight years. The launch of ROSTAR-Vsevolzhsk's second production line allows us to meet growing domestic and international customer needs and strengthens ROSTAR's presence in the market,» said Andrey Donets, head of RUSAL's can business.
ROSTAR constructed the second production line in one year, relying on its own technical resources, as well as the help of several western contractors. Major consumers will include Baltika Breweries, Vena Brewery, Heineken, Bravo Premium and Happyland plants.
