Tata Steel Wins Accolades from the Indian Institute of Metals

Tata Steel has won the prestigious Tata Gold Medal from the Indian Institute of Metals for his significant contribution to Metallurgical Industries for the year 2005. Among the distinguish recipients of the Tata Gold Medal Award from Tata Steel are Dr. Jamshed J Irani former Managing Director, Tata Steel and Director Tata Sons, Dr. T Mukheerjee, Dy. Managing Director (Steel) Tata Steel and Mr. B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel.

The Indian Institute of Metals has been commemorating the National Metallurgists’ Day (NMD) every year on November 14. The Indian Institute of Metals on behalf of the Ministry of Steel selects and honours distinguished metallurgists of India for their outstanding contribution in the field of metallurgical education, research and industry.

Several other executives from Tata Steel will also be recognized for their contribution in metallurgy by the Indian Institute of Metals at the NMD Celebrations slated for the November 14, 2005 at ‘Student Activity Centre, Convocation Hall”, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

The O P Jindal Gold Medal for outstanding contribution to the development of Ferrous Metals & Alloys is being awarded to Mr. U K Chaturvedi, Vice–President (Long Products) Tata Steel. The SAIL Gold Medal for best paper published in the Transactions- TP1884 “ Modelling Cored Wire Injection in Steel Melts” is being jointly awarded to Mr. Sarbendu Sanyal, Tata Steel Dr. Sanjay Chandra, Tata Steel, Mr. Amreek Singh and Mr. G G Roy of IIT, Kharagpur. Mrs Alka Bhatia of Tata Steel will be awarded with Young Metallurgist Award.
