R&DA: Multisorb to Showcase Packaging Technology for Preserving Freshness of Meals and Ready-to-Eat

Multisorb Technologies will exhibit at the upcoming Research & Development Associates for Military Food & Packaging Systems' (R&DA) 69th Annual Spring Meeting & Exhibition held in Williamsburg, VA, April13-16, 2015. Multisorb will showcase technology that preserves the freshness of meals and ready-to-eat (MRE's) by capturing and retaining oxygen within the package.

In the field, MREs can face extreme conditions, including fluctuations in temperature and humidity, encouraging the growth of spoilage organisms. In addition to remaining fresh in severe environments, MREs must also have a long shelf life - up to three years. Multisorb Technologies has a solution, optimizable FreshPax® oxygen absorbing packets, and it will be highlighting this and other food preservation technologies at the exhibition.

Food-safe FreshPax oxygen absorbers are placed directly in the MRE packaging to absorb oxygen and maintain the proper moisture level. The water activity of the sorbent is matched to the water activity of the food product so foods like pocket sandwiches and other baked foods maintain a desirable texture. By absorbing and permanently retaining the oxygen in the sealed package, FreshPax packets greatly inhibit the growth of molds and other spoilage organisms and maintain shelf stability.

Multisorb will be showcasing other products that also preserve the quality and extend the shelf-life of fresh and processed foods including meats, bakery items, snack foods, pet foods, dairy, and more. To fit virtually every need, Multisorb’s extensive line of sorbent solutions is available in several formats including packets, cards, and self-adhesive formats.

Through its consultative approach, Multisorb helps you select the correct solution based on your food product's unique characteristics, such as water activity, shelf-life requirements, and packaging properties.
