Muscovite mica (potassium aluminosilicate), available from Goodfellow in sheet form, is a naturally occurring mineral that can be split into thin uniform layers.
It is transparent, resistant to high temperatures, dielectric, chemically inert to most substances, and is a good electrical insulator as well as a good thermal conductor.
