Dow Corning, world leading silicon-based solutions company, will be demonstrating its novel solar solutions during the 9th International Photovoltaic Conference and Expo (booth W4-523) held between April 28 and 30 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNEC) in China.
Dow Corning is committed to developing solar energy efficient products and decreasing LCOE. So far it has launched many products to enhance solar competitiveness. In the booth at the Expo, products such as Dow Corning® PV-5802 electrically conductive adhesive, a reliable electrically conductive and optimal performance adhesive created for assembling the back contact of a PV module, and Dow Corning® PV-6212 cell encapsulant, an optically transparent silicone encapsulant providing optimal performance in potential induced degradation (PID) resistance. On launch, the PV-6212 cell encapsulant was well received in the PV market last year. The PV-6212 is designed to provide thermal, mechanical, dielectric and environmental protection.
The Expo will also be witnessing the world’s first silicone encapsulated dual-glass photovoltaic module. This was developed in collaboration with BYD for the PV sector. Dow Corning provides Dow Corning® PV-5802 electrically conductive adhesive, a bonding solution for assisting the new BYD module in outstanding performance as well as handling mechanical load testing and hail and ice impact testing. Due to its varied applications, the PV-5802 is considered an industry game changer.
Dow Corning has also partnered with Eurotron, a global player in photovoltaic module manufacturing equipment to design a novel type of unit based on MWT technology, keeping in mind cost reduction and solar energy production efficiency. This partnership also benefits the Dow Corning® PV-5802 electrically conductive adhesive and the Dow Corning® PV-6212 cell encapsulant technology. The complete sample will be on display.
“Innovative materials are key to addressing the industry’s challenge of making solar more competitive with traditional energy sources, and Dow Corning’s work with BYD is a perfect example of this,” says Francois Bertero, Dow Corning Global Segment Leader of Solar Solutions.
Dow Corning is gaining immense recognition for its silicon-based solutions covering the whole photovoltaic commercial chain. Going forward, Dow Corning will persist in the same direction of providing silicon-based advanced solutions to assist PV energy compete alongside conventional power generation techniques, and grow to be a real game player in the PV sector.
Several experts from Dow Corning will be attending SNEC’s technical forum. On April 29, Jian Cao, solar industry application engineer will present a lecture on solar silicone bonding technology and its critical impact on a PV module’s cost framework at the PV Power Conference in Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai. At the booth, several other key product case studies will be illustrated such as Dow Corning’s unique potting agent solution PV-7326 and frame sealant solution.
