H.C. Starck leads the technology metals industry with its engineered products fabricated from refractory materials for the power semiconductor and thermal management industries.H.C. Starck’s custom-engineered thermal management materials support the electronicsindustry’s migration to increased miniaturization of electronic components that require rapid cooling to be effective.
Visit H.C. Starck at the upcoming PCIM Europe 2015 in Nuremberg, Germany, May 19-21, Hall 6 Stand 336 to view ourdiverse product portfolio for hydropower generation, earth moving equipment, high speed trains, radar, and aerospace applications.
”H.C. Starck is well positioned to provide solutions tothe fast growing thermal management industry. Performance characteristics of our materials, together with our demonstrated engineering power to continually innovate represent a robust platform to meet customer requirements and the demands of these dynamic markets. H.C. Starck is committed to serving the power semiconductor and thermal management industries with our refractory materials solutions,” said Dmitry Shashkov, Member of H.C. Starck's Executive Board and Head of the Fabricated Products Division.
Within thermal management applications, H.C. Starck specializes in molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W)based materials, as well as laminates with copper (Cu), and engineered composite materials. In addition, H.C. Starck technologies include plating and chemical milling, specifically rhodium, ruthenium, gold, silver, and nickel electroplated coatings, electroless nickel coating, and photo-chemical etching.
The thermal properties of these materials include low and controlled CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) and high TC(thermal conductivity), enabling highly reliable operation and rapid heat removal from high power density devices. H.C. Starck’s CuMoCu laminates have an adjustable CTE that can be matched to silicon substrate, whilemaintaining high thermal conductivity, making them ideal for power devices where considerable heat is generated.
Molybdenum-copper composite material maintains excellent performance properties such as low heat resistance, and excellent thermal and electrical conductivity. It can easily be machined into the required shape and finish. By utilizing copper infiltration technology, near-net-shape components in relatively large form-factors with different ratios of molybdenum and copper can be produced.
