EXTEND3D Release New Version of 3D Projection Software for Automotive Manufacturing

EXTEND3D GmbH has introduced a new release of the Werkzeug 3D projection software for worker guidance.

The focus lies on applications in car body manufacturing like stud and bolt welding. Still several other, already implemented applications, e.g. checking of welding spots and positioning of welding parts were optimized and refined.

When in use, the software is combined with the highly mobile Werklicht Pro laser projector and enables to project CAD data on work items.

In automotive pre-series production Werklicht then projects bolt positions directly on the chassis sheet. After marking the projected position on the work item, the studs can be attached.
Compared to the use of a coordinate measuring machine, time savings of about 75% are achieved.

The positive result of this shortened process is the significantly faster implementation of design changes, as well as the simpler upgrade of existing prototypes to the latest revision status, thanks to the complete inspection of all bolts.

Laser projection of CAD data directly on the component:

  • Flexible regarding changes.
  • Precise display and checking.
  • Easy to handle.
  • Up to 80 % faster than with previous methods.
  • No more templates.
  • The use of CMMs is reduced.
