PicoQuant GmbH has expanded the compatibility list of its FLIM and FCS upgrade kit to include the Zeiss LSM 880 confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). The upgrade kit is an external addition to the CLSM enhancing its capabilities by the addition of time-resolved techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), or advanced time-resolved Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) analysis.
The turn-key system consists of three major parts: picosecond pulsed excitation sources, single photon sensitive detection systems, and Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) data acquisition hardware. It is also possible to use the Zeiss LSM 880 BiG.2 detection module for FLIM and FCS measurement. The broad range of laser sources available (from 405 nm to 640 nm), high photon sensitivity, and time resolutions ranging from pico- to microseconds make it possible to analyze all types of commonly used fluorophores. The upgrade kit can even be attached if the AiryScan module of the Zeiss LSM 880 is installed.
PicoQuant's FLIM and FCS upgrade kit is a complete set of instruments that can be adapted to Zeiss LSM's in various configurations. The compact and easy-to-use system extends the capabilities of the LSM towards time-resolved measurements with a resolution down to picoseconds and allows users to perform various analyses on this time scale.
