3M Complete Acquisition of Solvay Fluoropolymers

3M have just completed the acquisition of the Solvay subsidiary Solvay Fluoropolymers Inc, via their subsidiary Dyneon. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase includes a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) production facility in Alabama and a 50% interest in Alventia LLC, a joint venture between the two parties which produces VF2, a precursor to PVDF.

Solef, a PVDF grade used exclusively in the wire/cable and chemical processing industries marketed by Solvay, will be sold by Dyneon under a new name.
