Dow Chemicals to Close Italian PET Plant

Dow Chemicals have decided to close their 60,000 mtpy polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in Matera, Italy.

The decision was taken due to poor economic conditions. This plant was also viewed as being less efficient compared to more modern plants with capacities of the order of 150,000 mtpy.

The closure will affect 70 employees.

Dow will still remain a player in the PET, with a remaining capacity of 280,000mtpy.
