ITW Test & Measurement GmbH (www.buehler.com) recently opened its new Solutions Center in the Düsseldorf Chamber of Handicrafts building. This spacious laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technology for preparing materialographic samples as well as with Buehler's latest hardness testers and the specially adapted DiaMet™ testing software.
Experienced in-house metallographers available throughout the day support customers in finding solutions to their specific problems and challenges. The spacious area provides an outstanding forum for hosting seminars, conferences and training events for both German and international customers as well as for offering continuing professional development courses.
The new Buehler Solutions Center is equipped with large to medium-sized abrasive cutters, precision cutters, the latest generation of hot mounting presses and manual and semi-automatic grinders and polishers. The facility also has Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Knoop hardness testing machines that can be operated manually, semi or full automatically. The laboratory is also backed up by two image analysis workstations. Further facilities include a thin-sectioning system and a large laboratory fume hood for carrying out a comprehensive range of contrast tests using a very extensive variety of different etchants, and an electropolishing cell.
The large attendance to our grand opening signifies the tremendous interest in a facility of this kind. One-to-one discussions with our guests revealed the high level of demand for solutions in the complex field of materialography, which in addition to metals, increasingly also covers many other materials such as ceramics and plastics.
Matthias Pascher, manager of the new Buehler Solutions Center
Roland Prauss, European Commercial Director of Buehler ITW Test & Measurement GmbH, points out, "The new Buehler Solutions Center fills a gap which was created when we consolidated our business activities in Esslingen in the south of Germany at the beginning of the year. We had temporarily removed our presence in Düsseldorf, which had long been a convenient location for many customers. This new application laboratory, located in the spacious premises of the Chamber of Handicrafts welding school, renews Buehler’s presence in the region and provides a closer working relationship with our customers. We would like to thank our hosts for their excellent cooperation and for making us so welcome in their premises and we look forward to serving customers old and new from throughout Europe."
