Borealis will showcase state-of-the-art polyolefin compounds solutions to visitors of Wire 2006, from April 24-28, 2006 in Düsseldorf, Germany (Messe Düsseldorf, Hall 10, Stand N10-D70).
Together with Borouge, its joint venture in the Middle East and Asia with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Borealis will highlight active commitment to investing in and providing technically advanced, high quality, innovative, and cost-effective solutions for cable manufacturers and end-users.
Borealis aims to provide the optimal plastics solution for the manufacturer and the end customer of the cable, keeping manufacturers competitive and ensuring end users receive the best quality cables for distributing energy and transmitting information.
The latest developments to the Supercure product range and Visico/Ambicat catalyst system will be presented on the stand, alongside the whole spectrum of Borealis wire and cable products.
Supercure XLPE cable insulation is a high productivity solution, enabling cable manufacturers to achieve increased throughput without the need for new investments. The production time can be reduced by as much as 20%. The concept results in lower production costs while maintaining today’s high level of cable quality.
The Visico/Ambicat copolymer and tin free catalyst system for low voltage cable insulation requires no separate curing operation and crosslinking takes place in a fraction of the time required by other materials. The simplified cable production process with Visico/Ambicat significantly reduces costs and saves energy.
Borcell cellular materials for radio frequency cables results in a lower signal attenuation than has been possible with previous materials. This insulation concept is based on Borcell HE1123 high density polyethylene (HDPE) and Borcell LE1120 low density polyethylene (LDPE). These two compounds give excellent foaming in the gas injection extrusion process and offer a broad operating window enabling use in a variety of radio frequency (RF) cable designs.
Michael Bjørn, Marketing Manager in Borealis’ wire and cable business, comments: “The biennial, international Wire tradeshow is a key forum for exchange of information between people from across this industry. We aim to use this opportunity to further our understanding of the current challenges facing cable manufacturers and their customers.”
Borealis has more than 40 years of experience in providing high-quality polyolefin compounds to the Wire & Cable market and is the world leader in this market segment.
