Asbestos Claims to be Limited in US

America’s largest legal group have just voted to back federal action that will limit actions relating to asbestos related law suits that have skyrocketed over the last few years.

Over the last two years the number of claims relating to non-malignant lung tissue damage, allegedly caused by asbestos exposure have become common place. The number of claims that have been processed are driving many companies bankrupt.

Studies show that while claimants do suffer from non-malignant lung diseases, the damage may have been caused by any number of scenarios of which asbestos exposure is just one. Furthermore, the injuries suffered by the claimants do not appear to impair their daily routines.

The shear number of claims lodged, brought a proposal before the American Bar Association (ABA) to limit the number of claims. The ABA’s House of Delegates approved a recommendation to restrict the number of noncancerous claims during their midyear meeting in Seattle.
