ConocoPhillips Closes Carbon Fibre Project

ConocoPhillips have decided to close their Cevolutiuon carbon fibre operation. The decision came after weighing up the effects of market, operating and technology uncertainties, which when combined, did not paint a positive picture.

In 2000, they began researching new technologies for producing carbon fibre, culminating in a production plant in Oklahoma (USA) which began operation in July 2002.

The closure of the plant will affect 175 employees, who will be deployed offered severance packages.
