Mitchell Johnson, Ph.D., President/CEO of General Plastics Manufacturing Company will be one of the speakers at the leadership panel, Reducing Material & Equipment Cost While Improving Foam Capabilities, on March 26, 2019, 10:00 am, Track 1, at Foam Expo North America in Novi, Michigan.
The topic is timely given the current market pressures caused by increasing cost of raw materials while ensuring that we continue to deliver quality products. As a company, we have to look at mitigating risks brought on by these pressures so it doesn’t disrupt our customers’ manufacturing process. General Plastics’ approach is to actively consider insourcing processes and raw materials as well as implement new technology. These measures will help us consistently deliver quality innovative products that meet the new demands for cellular plastics. This is the key to our company’s growth.

One of these innovations will be showcased at the General Plastics’ booth #425. LAST-A-FOAM® FR-4800 was recently launched in response to the need for a tooling board that provides a high-performing and cost-effective solution for manufacturing tools and parts for prototypes, concept proofs, and short-run production parts. FR-4800 can be used in applications with peak temperatures up to 480°F (249°C) and continuous use of 400°F (240°C). Its CTE, which is similar to aluminum, is reliable and repeatable, allowing customers to produce more accurate tooling surfaces.
In addition to tooling boards, the company will showcase various rigid and flexible polyurethane foam sheet samples and market applications. These applications include dielectric material, molded foam and padded parts, and core material for use in aerospace interiors and automotive floor and wall panels. The information and samples that will be available at the General Plastics booth will demonstrate the versatility of LAST-A-FOAM® polyurethane foam products, the breadth of the company’s capabilities and its focus on innovation.
