Nucor Purchase Assets of North Star Steel's Arizona Plant

Through their subsidiary Nucor Steel Kingman LLC, Nucor have acquired the assets of North Star Steel’s, Kingman, Arizona, USA plant. The purchase price for the assets was US$35 million.

The plant included a melting facility with a production capacity of 650,000 tons annually and a rebar and wire rod rolling facility capable of processing over 500,000 tons per year. The melt shop has been idle since January 200, while the rolling facility was idled earlier this month, as north Star could no longer run them economically.

Nucor will look at re-starting operations at the plant, pending feasibility studies.
