We are delighted to announce the launch of CORSICA 3.0! Our engineering team has been working tirelessly over the past few months to bring further improvements to our software package. The features in our latest update make our products easier and more intuitive to use while further increasing the quality of the data that they generate.
Hard Material Testing Just Got Easier!
Facilitated by an accompanying hardware update (which was included as part of the CORSICA subscription), the Plastometer capability has been extended to allow testing of even harder materials. Metallic materials with yield stress up to 3 GPa (up from 2 GPa) can now be tested with the PIP technique. This specification covers the vast majority of metallic materials.
Brinell Hardness Test Added
The ability to add a Brinell hardness test to the test protocol has been included. This allows the Plastometer to provide even more information about your material than before.
Further Improvements to Accuracy
Our objective to further improve the accuracy of the PIP technique continues! An update to the testing protocol has been implemented that brings further increases in accuracy to both inferred yield stress and ultimate tensile strength values of high work-hardening materials. These improvements have been heavily validated and rolled out across all-engineering metals.
Improved Embedded Knowledge Centre
Following the launch of the CORSICA Knowledge Centre in the last update, we have expanded the offering here. Bite-size helpsheets centered on setting up the test and interpreting the results have been added to provide a quick and easy reference point to common questions.

Improved User Interface
Merging the SEMPID app into CORSICA has resulted in a more fluid workflow. Updates to the visuals include more user-friendly data capture and data visualization panels.
Improved Export Capability
With the Plastometer measuring lots of useful data, it is natural that the user will want to export the results to show their colleagues! This is now much easier with the new PDF and CSV output capability, which allows users to create data outputs catered to their requirements.
