Mitsubishi Chemical Reorganises Polyolefin Business

Mitsubishi Chemical and Tonen Chemical Company, the joint venture partners in Japan Polychem Corp have reached an agreement for Mitsubishi to buy Tonen’s share of the joint venture. This will see Japan Polychem, a player in the polyolefins market become a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemicals. This deal is due to complete on June 2.

Japan Polychem is also involved in polyethylene and has also reached an agreement with Japan Polyolefins Co and Mitsubishi Shoji Plastics Corp to establish a joint venture, from September 1.

Japan Polychem have also reached a final agreement with Chisso Corp to start work on a polypropylene joint venture from October 1st.
