Alcoa to Sell South American PET Business

Alcoa have reached an agreement with Amcor PET packaging to sell them their polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging business in South America. The acquisition will cost Amcor $75 million and is scheduled for completion some time in the third quarter of this year.

The divestiture of the PET packaging business is part of Alcoa’s corporate strategy to sell off non-core businesses.

The business being sold off includes nine production facilities situated in countries including Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Peru, Uruguay and Chile.
