Progress in Development of All Vanadium Flow Storage Batteries

A team of researchers at the CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics has attained significant progress recently in their research and development of all vanadium flow storage batteries.

On the basis of the previously developed 1kW battery module, they have successfully fabricated a similar module with 5kW. The operation of the new module has been proven stable, with energy efficiency up to 78%.

As China is to enter a new development stage for renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy sources, novel energy storage devices are needed to overcome the instability and uncontinuity of such resources.
