Navitar Awarded Patent for Automated Optics Selection Tool

Navitar, a global leader of imaging optics, announced today that the company has been awarded a patent for their online automated optics selection tool called the Optical Wizard. US patent number 7,149,662, was issued to Navitar on December 12, 2006.

The Optical Wizard, accessible via the Internet at www.opticalwizard.com, compares a set of user inputted specifications with the optical characteristics of a variety of standard optical components, and automatically chooses a combination of the components forming the closest match to the user's requirements.

William Bridson, Navitar’s Director of New Product Development and originator of the Optical Wizard, comments, “The site traffic proves the success of the Optical Wizard. The patent just reinforces how truly innovative the tool is for the imaging optics industry.”

Prior to the introduction of the Optical Wizard, selecting an optical system was time consuming and required an individual with considerable optical background. This automated method is revolutionary, interactive, and in step with today’s fast-paced, online environment.
