Tyco Thermal Controls, a leader in the supply of Mineral Insulated (MI) thermocouple cables for industrial temperature measurement, offers a solution for heat treatment companies looking to reduce the incidence of ‘failed loads’. Thermocouples made from its Pyrotenax Pyrosil-sheathed cables deliver accurate measurements over long periods and at temperatures to 1250°C, due to their exceptional measurement stability, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength.
The heating, soaking and cooling cycles during heat treatment, often subject thermocouples to extreme dynamics with an associated risk of breakage or temperature measurement drift – either event can produce a ‘failed load’ and consequent losses. Sensors manufactured with Pyrosil-sheathed cables offer the solution with their high mechanical strength and low drift properties.
Pyrosil-sheathed thermocouple cables have been developed to be the ultimate component for MI thermocouple sensors. The sheath demonstrates superior oxidation resistance and higher temperature strength than both AISI 310 stainless steel and Alloy 600. In addition, because Pyrosil has similar chemical composition and physical characteristics as the K and N thermocouple core rods, it gives sensors a more stable emf and a significantly longer operational life.
Pyrotenax Pyrosil-sheathed Thermocouple Cables are also suitable for a wide variety of other industrial process temperature measurement applications in harsh environments and hazardous areas including the chemical, petrochem and smelting industries.
