General Dynamics Awarded Contract to Build MK 80 Series Bomb Bodies

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $44.8 million contract for production of MK 80 Series bomb bodies by the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island, Ill.

This delivery order is for the production of a combination of 500 lb., 1,000 lb. and 2,000 lb. bomb bodies, totaling more than 25,000 units for the U.S. Navy and Air Force. Bomb body production work will be performed in Garland, Texas. The MK 80 series cases will be filled at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Oklahoma and placed in inventory.

Dan Paul, vice president/general manager of Tactical Air Munitions for General Dynamics said, "General Dynamics is very pleased to fulfill this critical requirement of providing MK 80 series systems to the U.S. warfighter, and is committed to providing the highest quality combat and training bomb assets."
