Rexam to Buy Brazilian Aluminium Can Maker

Global packaging company Rexam, has announced its intention to acquire Brazilian aluminium can manufacturer Latasa for US$462 million.

Latasa is the leading supplier of aluminium cans in Brazil, Argentina and Chile, serving both the brewing and soft drink industries.

The acquisition will position Rexam as the number 1 can maker in Brazil, which has an annual consumption estimated at 10 billion cans. Furthermore, Rexam will become the world leader in beverage can manufacture with a market share of 23%.
