BHP Steel Changes Name to BlueScope Steel

From this day forth BHP Steel will become known as BlueScope Steel, opening a new chapter in the history of Australia’s largest steel solutions provider.

The name change was brought about by an organisational change after it was demerged from BHP Billiton. Although the name change was not required until June 30, 2004, the new name was approved by shareholders at last weeks AGM and has taken effect as of today.

BlueScope Steel is the leading steel producer in Australia and New Zealand, supplying 80% of the flat steel consumed in these markets. They serve industries such as building and construction, automotive, packaging and general manufacturing.
