Showa Denko and Kemet Expand Capacitor Agreement

In 1999, Showa Denko and Kemet signed an agreement that saw Kemet license Showa Denko’s polymer aluminium technology for capacitor manufacture. Today, they have agreed to expand their co-manufacturing agreement pertaining to solid conductive polymer aluminium surface mount capacitors.

While both parties will continue to market capacitors to their respective customers, they will combine their manufacturing operations to eliminate duplication. Consequently Showa Denko will build a second production line at its Oyama plant with a 8,000,000 capacitors per month capacity.

Previously, both companies produced capacitors using their own front end processes, although Kemet completed the manufacturing for both companies.
