During the General Assembly of the DFF in Frankfurt on June 20, the German Flat Panel Display Forum, a working group within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), elected its new Board of Directors. The new Board confirmed the two presiding Chairmen, Peter Bullen and Robert Isele, for a second period in office. Dr. Eric Maiser (VDMA) stepped down as Managing Director after seven years.
Besides the two Joint-Chairmen, the new DFF Board consists of six representatives from industry and academia: Dr. Werner Becker (Merck KGaA), Prof. Karlheinz Blankenbach (University of Pforzheim), Wolfgang Mildner (Poly IC GmbH & Co. KG), Gildas Sorin (Novaled AG), Dr. Jürgen Wahl (Optrex Europe GmbH) and Dr. Jörg Winkler (Plansee GmbH). DFF founder Prof. Wolfgang Ehrfeld holds the position as Honorary Chair since 2004.
Peter Bullen is International Sales Director at i-sft GmbH in Gundersheim (near Mainz). i-sft produces special customized ruggedized flat panel displays (AMLCDs) with a patented back-light source for industrial and avionic applications and is active in the whole area of Display Solutions.
Robert Isele is Manager for Driver Information Concepts and Display Technologies at the BMW Group in Munich. As a leading German automotive manufacturer, BMW is representing the display end users in the DFF.
With its latest amendment of the bylaws, the DFF stresses its mission of representing the display community as a whole. “We always had non-German members, DFF Chairman “Technologies” Robert Isele explains. “Now our bylaws explicitly welcome European and international companies.” Peter Bullen, DFF Chairman “Applications”, will dedicate his second term of office to a stronger integration of the present and on-going members: „We want to invite our members to be more involved and to work actively. Their input and ideas are most welcome to form the future DFF activities.“
Dr. Eric Maiser (VDMA) stands down as managing director of the DFF after seven years in office. New contact person for the DFF is Dr. Susanne Bieller, who has been setting her own impulses since February. Dr. Maiser accompanied the DFF in the early days, under the initiator Prof. Wolfgang Ehrfeld (Institute for Microtechnology Mainz, IMM) and as the first Managing Director after the official inauguration of the working group within the German Engineering Federation VDMA in 2000.
DFF Chairman Peter Bullen thanked Dr. Maiser for his commitment and the support to all members during all his years in office. Dr. Maiser is now focussing on his position as Managing Director of the VDMA Productronics Association which he holds since 2002.
