Alcan today announced that it has signed a long-term agreement with Eclipse Aviation for the supply of lightweight aluminum products.
"This agreement demonstrates Alcan's commitment to a long-term relationship with Eclipse Aviation, the manufacturer of the Eclipse 500 very light jet," said Christel Bories, President and CEO, Alcan Engineered Products. "Thanks to its strong presence in the US and in Europe, Alcan is well-positioned to support the Eclipse global supply chain with local support. This agreement is also important to Alcan as it represents a significant milestone in expanding our strong and diversified aerospace customer base into this promising and expanding very light jet aircraft segment," she added.
The lightweight aluminum product solutions will be supplied to Eclipse by Alcan's Ravenswood (USA), and Issoire (France) rolling mills. Both facilities supply high quality aluminum plate products for the aerospace, aeronautical and transportation industries. Their innovative lightweight products make an important contribution to the further development of high-tech aerospace solutions, meeting customers' evolving requirements for reduced manufacturing costs and optimum weight/performance ratios.
In addition, Alcan is pleased to note that Eclipse received its production certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration on April 26, 2007. "Alcan congratulates Eclipse on reaching this important milestone. As a supplier, Alcan is encouraged by Eclipse's achievement and commitment to quality and excellence," indicated Steve Abelman, President, Alcan Rolled Products Ravenswood.
