Russian Steel Maker Source Colour Coating Line from FATA Hunter

MMK has signed a contract for the delivery of equipment for the new colour coating line.

In 2004 MMK commissioned the first colour coating line with an annual capacity of 200 ktpy. Due to increased demand for premium quality colour coated sheet from manufacturers of white goods and the construction sector, it became necessary to increase production of such material at MMK to 400 ktpy. Apart from that, there has been a rise in demand for rolled products with detachable protective film and for products with decorative laminate film and embossed surface from the same two sectors plus furniture producers. This led to the management's decision to build a second colour coating line comprising hot and cold laminators and an option for an embossing roll and a tension leveler. The design of the new line's furnace also provides for manufacture of material suitable for white goods.

When implemented, the project will allow to step up production of high quality colour coated sheet to 400 ktpy increasing the share of value added goods in the total output of the Company. The start-up of the new coating line is scheduled in 18 months after the signing of the contract for equipment supply, that is, roughly in January of 2009.

The contract for the equipment supply has been awarded to FATA HUNTER.
