UC RUSAL, the world’s largest producer of aluminium and alumina, and HydroOGK, the Russian leader of the renewable energy sector, announce today the appointment of Power Machines to supply hydro generators to the Boguchanskaya HPP.
Under the contract, Power Machines will design, manufacture, and supply nine hydro generators, each with a 330 MW nominal capacity, to the Boguchanskaya HPP. The equipment is set to be delivered from 2009 to 2012. In addition, Power Machines will deliver technical supervision during installation and pre-operational verification. The contract value exceeds RUR 3 billion.
The Boguchanskaya hydropower plant on the Angara river is the largest ongoing construction project in the Russian energy sector. Construction of the power plant is part of the Boguchanskoye Energy and Metals Complex project which also includes the construction of the Boguchansky aluminium smelter. The aluminium smelter will be a major consumer of the energy generated by the power plant. UC RUSAL and HydroOGK carry out the project on a parity basis.
