Fluidan is an instrument company located in Denmark.
Fluidan is committed to making rheology control easy – we are here to help our customers achieve their optimization targets and enable the implementation of new, improved production methods based on in-process measurement of rheology.
The viscosity profile of fluids is important in many industry segments:
- A paint must be thick in the can to prevent pigment sedimentation. It must be thin (low viscosity) when applied to a wall to secure good spread and coverage. And thick again on the brush, so it doesn’t run or drip.
- A lotion must be thick enough to form a drop on the hand, but then spread almost as thin as water when rubbed into the skin.
Such fluids are non-Newtonian liquids, thick at low shear and getting much thinner at high shear – they are shear thinning. Other examples are liquid soaps and detergents, shampoos, adhesives.
Manufacturers control the viscosity of every batch, to meet the quality requirements and the expectations of customers and consumers.
Today, the quality control is using manual QC procedures, because no automated process control methods are available for non-Newtonian liquids.
Fluidan offers a fully automatic process rheometer, RheoStream® - the only process rheometer that correctly measures the viscosity profile of shear thinning liquids.
Fluidan works with our customers to automate the viscosity control. With in-process monitoring of viscosity, you don’t have to wait for manual QC methods, and you get the data to automate viscosity adjustments.
In short, with RheoStream® you get
- Shorter production time – higher capacity
- Consistent quality
- Lower cost
Total throughput time is significantly reduced, and you increase first-time-right / first-pass-yield.
Human error is removed from the equation. RheoStream measures the same way every time with higher precision than most QC procedures.
RheoStream is connected to a tank or pipe and pulls out samples every 1-3 minutes. Because the temperature and shear rates are carefully controlled RheoStream can accurately measure e.g. shear thinning liquids.
For ATEX/Ex Zone 1 and 2, Fluidan offers RheoStream® FCX.
