Veeco Instruments, a provider of metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) systems for LED manufacturing, has opened its new technology center in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
The Taiwan Technology Center (TTC) is established to offer technology support for the LED industry. It is designed to perform process demonstrations, organize quick start programs to convert best known methods, encourage combined technology development programs and offer preliminary access to assess system upgrades. It has Veeco Instruments’ MOCVD systems such as multi-chamber TurboDisc MaxBright MOCVD System.
The Chief Executive Officer at Veeco Instruments, John R. Peeler stated that the company’s objective is to assure customer partnership and improved awareness to develop a long-term strategic collaboration with its customers in Greater China. The strategic location of the center offers convenient access to customers in other Asian countries, he said.
Peeler further said that the TTC is the most recent segment of its major expansion in Asia that it declared last fall. The company will spend more than $30 million to establish its presence in Asia to assist its clients to gear up the speed of LED adoption for solid-state lighting and consumer electronics, and open new research and development/process and demo support sites in Shanghai, China, and Seoul, Korea.
Veeco Instruments’ Senior Vice President of Sales and Service, Peter Collingwood said that the TTC advances the company’s dedication to the next stage. The company can now exhibit its latest technologies and MOCVD systems to its clients to increase their production of cost-effective LEDs with superior efficacy, he added.
