Introduction

LDX 2101 alloy is a low nickel, lean duplex stainless steel that is designed with both superior strength and chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance, which are much better than 300 series stainless steels.

LDX 2101 was developed for general-purpose use. High chromium and nitrogen content of this alloy along with molybdenum content provide excellent resistance to localized and uniform corrosion.

LDX 2101 acts as a low nickel general purpose substitute for stainless steel grades 304 and 304L. This alloy possesses good fatigue strength, chloride pitting resistance, and good machinability and weldability.

The following sections will discuss in detail about stainless steel grade LDX 2101.
