Refrigerator Temperature Monitoring System for Hospitals: Selsium Ward & Clinic Monitor

Selsium is designed as a hospital refrigerator temperature monitoring system to keep drugs safe from damage and the public safe from harm.

Why Selsium?

Traditional monitoring systems require staff to continuously monitor a computer for alerts or depend upon SMS or email messages. Some systems are cloud-based with high hosting costs which go on forever adding extra unnecessary costs.

Hospital nursing staff are very busy people whose key focus is caring for their patients. Manual temperature recording is a task that takes up their time and because of the frequency of recording excursions will get missed.

Selsium is unique, as it uses well-established wireless technology from Hanwell and is supported on both Hanwell Synergy and IceSpy Hanwell software systems. Thus, if a clinic or hospital already has one of these systems in other departments, users can add Selsium clinic and ward monitor onto their existing system.

Selsium can be used over a few wards or clinics with just a few fridges or many wards with numerous fridges. If a user’s Trust has remote sites or other hospitals in the Trust, these can all be incorporated into the system. Fundamentally there is no boundaries to the size of the system and there are no on-going costs other than battery and calibration replacements.

How it Works

When an alarm condition is detected a buzzer will be raised to alert the staff that an alarm condition has happened. Usually, someone would have to go to a PC to view the alarm, but with Selsium that requirement is a thing of the past. The alarm notification will be provided to a chosen printer for the staff to deal with.

The printout has all the information needed to rapidly identify the problem fridge. The printout even has instructions on how to proceed with the problem.

Since Selsium also stores the data on a local database, the system can be used by senior staff to review data and identify any possible trends that may result in problems in the future.

Senior staff can receive automated scheduled reports via email enabling them to easily control large numbers of fridges smoothly. This hospital refrigerator temperature monitoring system has specifically designed scheduled reports that will classify fridges that are repetitively going into alarm.

This could be caused by defective equipment or poor staff handling, the data produced allows for improved management of the fridges and to order replacements before failure arises or to enhance staff training.

All this results in improved quality of service and money-saving from lesser waste.
