The EP30-2 from Master Bond is a lower viscosity, two component epoxy system combining a number of very desirable features. It can be easily processed and has a non-critical ten-to-one mix ratio by weight. The EP30-2 cures readily in 24-48 hours at room temperature or more quickly at higher temperatures, for example, 2-3 hours at 150-200 °F. The ideal cure is overnight at room temperature followed by 2-3 hours at 150-200 °F. This epoxy flows evenly and smoothly after mixing and is easily applied as a coating, adhesive, or potting material.
The EP30-2 has excellent optical clarity. Its physical strength profile, particularly compressive strength, tensile and tensile lap shear among others is most remarkable. It is a great electrical insulator and is well-matched for smaller potting and encapsulation applications. It is an extremely structural system, meaning it is rigid without being brittle. The epoxy system is very dimensionally stable with low shrinkage upon curing.
The EP30-2 is a high-quality adhesive that bonds well to a wide range of substrates including metals, ceramics, glass, composites, and many rubbers and plastics. The EP30-2 is extremely resistant to fuels, oils, acids, bases, water, and many solvents. The EP30-2 also has been used successfully in many cryogenic applications. Its service temperature range is from 4K to +300 °F. It complies with the NASA low outgassing specifications. This remarkably versatile system can be used in a range of applications in electronics, aerospace, optical and specialty OEM industries, particularly when optical clarity and low outgassing are central criteria.
