roboTest L Robotic Testing System for Flexure Tests on Plastic Specimens

The roboTest L (linear) robotic testing system from ZwickRoell is used to carry out fully automated tensile tests on metal specimens (for instance, to ISO 6892, JIS Z2201, and ASTM E8,) or tensile and flexure tests on plastic specimens (for instance, to ISO 527-2 (1A, 1B, 1BA), ASTM D790 (IV) or ISO 178).

Description

  • System can be connected to materials testing machines from 5 to 250 kN
  • Magazine comprises of 160 to 600 specimens (based on specimen dimensions)
  • Specimens up to 1 kg in weight can be examined
  • Removable magazine inserts can be filled at operator’s workplace. Otherwise, specimens can also be integrated during the automatic sequence in the magazine
  • Manual tests can be carried out whenever necessary — the specimen feeder just swings out of the way for access
  • An independent version of roboTest L is available for testing O-rings
  • roboTest L can also be utilized for feeding specimens to other equipment (for example, notch-cutting machines and hardness measuring instruments)
  • An industrial controller with autoEdition2 automation software controls the system
  • Optional extras comprise of a barcode reader, HOST connection, cross-section measuring device, disposal gripper, accept/reject feature, and status indicator

Advantages and Features

  • Qualified laboratory staff are relieved of basic activities, freeing them for more multifaceted tasks
  • Operator influences (off-center or angled specimen insertion, hand temperature/moisture, etc.) are excluded for high test result reproducibility
  • Testing system decreases the testing costs for each specimen and normally pays for itself in one to two years
  • Machine can be used during idle times (night shifts and lunch breaks), which utilizes the total capacity and generates quicker results
  • System enables dependable documentation and statistical long-term monitoring
