Chemical spray shields from Firwin are custom-made to ensure spray and leak containment from inadvertent gasket break in piping systems that convey fluids under high pressures, or corrosive fluids.
- LFP™ chemical spray shields, the latest technology fabric from Firwin, are translucent, have remarkable tear strength, are chemically inert, and can be reused.
LFP™ Chemical Spray Shields use a non-porous, all-PTFE material and thus deliver excellent performance against dangerous spray and leakage, irrespective of the duration and severity of chemical exposure.
Several materials utilized for spray shields, such as PTFE-coated fiberglass, can become weak by complex industrial surroundings and often need to be tracked. Now, with an LFP Chemical Spray Shield, the drawstrings and body are composed of 100% PTFE.
This makes sure that worker safety is not compromised by degraded materials in a spray shield in case of a spray out at a flange. Since the LFP Chemical Spray Shield will not be affected by even the most corrosive chemical surroundings, chemical compatibility tables do not have to be mentioned.
Used in an LFP Chemical Spray Shield, the translucent material enables easy and safe detection of moisture leakage at the flange. If leakage still takes place at the flange, the spray shield can be cleaned and used again without having to worry about the degradation caused by a chemical attack.
LFP Chemical Spray Shields can be utilized in a temperature range of −73°C (−100°F) to 288°C (550°F) and a pH range of 1 to 14. Thanks to its cost-effectiveness and versatility, this spray shield can be used in virtually all industrial settings, like offshore, marine, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, and FDA-approved cryogenic and cleanroom applications.
LFP has won the 1995 Dupont Plunkett Award and Chemical Processing’s Vaaler award. The U.S. Navy has specified LFP as a flexible chemical liner for state-of-the-art nuclear submarines.
