Background

Roy Dodds is the Senior Polymer Scientist of Exova of Bridgwater. He has a MSc in Polymer Physics and a BSc in Polymer Technology from UMIST.

He has particular knowledge of fibre-reinforced composites used in the aerospace, marine, chemical process plant and general engineering industries.

He has some forty years experience of the properties and performance of composites, plastics, rubbers, and adhesives. He has also contributed to and provided leadership on many projects advising companies on the design and development of their products. This has involved the whole development process from material selection, qualification of new materials, prototype development, quality assurance testing and the assessment of premature failures of composite and plastic products.

Roy has contributed to papers published on the design and manufacture of composite products He has also contributed to technical sub-committees leading to revisions of British Standards on the design and construction of vessels, tanks, and pipes in glass reinforced plastics.
