The 6th Edition of the European Powder Metallurgy Association’s ‘Introduction to Powder Metallurgy, The Process and its Products’ is now available to order from the EPMA website, Publications section.
The original 1992 edition by Gordon Dowson, has been substantially revised by David Whittaker and the EPMA for the new 2008 release. The 32-page full colour booklet includes new images and text relating to powder metal components, production methods, the capabilities of using powder metallurgy, as well as types of products and applications that benefit from the PM manufacturing process.
'This is the EPMA’s flagship document for promoting the European Powder Metallurgy industry, said Andrew Almond the EPMA’s Marketing Manager. He went on to explain ‘This newly revised edition is a good introduction to the basics of Powder Metallurgy as the text, combined with the new images, makes for a more contemporary look and feel. This 6th Edition is a real showcase for the potential uses of powder metallurgy in today’s competitive manufacturing environment. The booklet is increasingly relevant as it highlights the products and applications created using the PM process. The title also contains information on powder manufacturing techniques as well as details of how sintered parts are produced and alternative powder shaping methods, such as Metal Injection Moulding.’
