The all new 11th Edition - International Powder Metallurgy Directory (IPMD) – 2004-2005 has just been published, bringing together in a 308-page book listings of over 4,100 organisations in 64 countries worldwide. The new 11th Edition IPMD is by far the largest single source of contact information on companies which manufacture a wide range of components using powder metallurgy (PM) technology, plus those companies which supply the essential metal and alloy powders, powder presses, sintering furnaces, and other production equipment needed in the PM process.
However, the new 11th Edition IPMD is far more than just a trade directory. It also offers readers an exclusive series of twelve richly illustrated editorial features written by experts from the various sectors of PM which give an unique overview of the current status and future potential of PM materials ranging from ferrous and non-ferrous powder production, structural, high performance PM parts used in automotive applications, complex shapes made by metal injection moulding, PM self-lubricating bearings, cemented carbides, diamond tools, and powder-based magnets. Another important feature in the IPMD is the analysis of market trends in the various regions around the world for specific PM industry sectors. There is also an independent review of developments in PM production equipment, particularly in the areas of powder compacting presses and furnaces.
Bernard Williams, the IPMD’s Editorial Director, reports that in addition to the many updated and new company entries and the extensive editorial features, a key new development for the 11th Edition IPMD is the on-line search facility of all the companies and organisations listed in the printed directory. ‘With the growing number of company entries in the 11th Edition IPMD, we have developed a searchable On-line database on our website www.ipmd.net which will allow registered users of the printed IPMD to carry out fast, complex searches for companies based on some 200 product codes, by company name, or by address/country’, said Mr Williams.
The 11th Edition IPMD also lists global PM consultants, trade associations and professional bodies, research & educational establishments involved in PM, and lists all current ISO PM Standards.
