Organisation Specialising in Health and Safety of Nanomaterials Gets New Director of Operations

SAFENANO, the UK's premier resource on nanotechnology hazard and risk, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Steve Hankin as its new Director of Operations.

Dr Hankin, who has been a Senior Consultant at the Institute of Occupational Medicine since 2007, will work alongside Dr Rob Aitken, Director of the initiative, and its Director of Toxicology Professor Vicki Stone to drive forward SAFENANO in its key position as the only UK Micro- and Nano-technology open access centre with a sole focus on health & safety aspects of nanomaterials.

"I'm looking forward to joining the SAFENANO team and building on the internationally-acknowledged work done so far" said Dr Hankin.

As Director of Operations, Dr Hankin will lead the implementation of the SAFENANO open access centre, including the further development and roll-out of SAFENANO Scientific Services in occupational hygiene, toxicology, risk assessment and training.

"The importance of environment, health and safety issues is increasingly evident across the range of nanotechnology sectors and SAFENANO is uniquely placed to provide support and work with stakeholders to address the issues". he continued.
