Wheelabrator Group Celebrates 16 Years of reliable Service to the Gas Turbine Industry

A world class specialist in gas turbine maintenance has commended surface preparation experts, Wheelabrator Group for its dependable and consistent service.

The joint venture company has enjoyed sixteen years of reliable service and productivity, all thanks to vital surface preparation and finishing machinery supplied and maintained by Wheelabrator Group.

Established in 1990, the company specialises in gas turbine maintenance and project development within the oil industry and Wheelabrator Group has supplied them with a range of mission critical blast equipment since 1993. This specialist Wheelabrator machinery includes press blast cabinets, which are used for the surface preparation of turbine blades and rings, CD type circular vibratory bowls needed to polish turbine blade aerofoils, and wetblast cabinets for the removal of deposits on engine casings and turbine blades.

Throughout this sixteen year relationship the performance of the Wheelabrator equipment has never been under question, meeting and exceeding customer expectations in terms of its operating efficiency and reliability both during production hours and between service intervals.

Every piece of equipment is regularly serviced by dedicated Wheelabrator service engineer, John Anderson, who has extensive knowledge of what the business relies on each day. John has built up a strong awareness of the company's business needs ensuring it can meet productivity targets and deliver the service its customers expect.
The operating efficiency of a blast machine is key to achieving maximum output at the lowest cost. Machine downtime caused by poor upkeep, lack of maintenance and general neglect can be extremely disruptive, very expensive and have a negative impact on output and production levels.

The joint venture company have taken steps to combat any unnecessary and costly machine downtime by having a Wheelabrator Plus service contract in place. This involves regular visits from a designated, specialist engineer, full machinery inspections and the option of a direct telephone line during working hours to provide immediate assistance between visits. The contract also includes on-site replacement of damaged or out-of-date parts therefore reducing unnecessary waste, downtime and production costs, while providing the customer with peace of mind knowing that it has a machine which complies with the latest health and safety regulations.

Hugh Smillie, Scottish Regional Manager, Wheelabrator Group said: "Maintenance is more than just keeping a machine running. Maintaining an efficient machine helps to reduce waste, minimise downtime, cut costs and more importantly save time and energy. Improving the finish on products promotes customer satisfaction, and safe, clean equipment is definitely better for operators.

"At Wheelabrator Plus we can tailor support packages to meet the specific needs of the customer. The packages offer great flexibility, allowing our customers to get the most out of their machines and ultimately reap the benefits for their business."
