Nominations for the First International Plastics Design Competition Available Online

Anyone with an interest in plastics design can now go online to view the candidate products in the first International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC) and can even vote for the winner in one category-the "People's Choice." Winners in all categories will be announced during the NPE2009 international plastics exposition, held June 22-26, 2009 at Chicago's McCormick Place.

Visitors to the IPDC website at www.plasticsdesign.org can view photos and information on candidate products by clicking on "View Entries" and can cast their People's Choice vote by clicking on "Vote Now." (The system permits only one vote per site visitor.) Judging in all other categories will take place during NPE2009, when the products will be on display in the IPDC pavilion in the McCormick West building (Booth W123000).

Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, June 24, the third day of NPE2009. The event will begin with a reception in the foyer outside the West Building ballroom at 5:00 p.m. and continue in the ballroom with awards presentations starting at 6:30. Tickets are available by contacting Patti Gillespie at SPI: Tel: 1-847-506-6409. Email: [email protected].

The triennial NPE is produced by The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI), whose Alliance for Plastics Processors (APP) sponsors the IPDC. The IPDC is supported by Design News, GlobalSpec , the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), Plastics News Global Group, and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL).

The APP is the successor to SPI's Structural Plastics Division and for 35 years has sponsored a design competition renowned in North America as a showplace for innovative plastic products. The IPDC expands the scope of the competition to include products of all types and from any country
