Winners Announced For The First International Plastics Design Competition at NPE2009

The first International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC) culminated at NPE2009 with the announcement of the winning entries at an evening ceremony, it was announced by the Alliance for Plastics Processors (APP), a unit of SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. SPI produces the triennial NPE, which is now under way at Chicago's McCormick Place (June 22-26).

The awards ceremony for the first International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC) drew a large number of NPE2009 participants. A total of 15 awards were presented.

The complete list of award winners appears beloe. A total of fifteen awards were presented by the APP, including a “People's Choice” Award that attracted 10,203 online votes at the IPDC website. Photos and information on all product entries are also available at the site.

“The IPDC exhibit in the West Hall of McCormick Place has attracted large crowds of visitors since the opening of NPE2009—an indication of the great interest among plastics professionals in design and product development innovation,” said Kevin Brady, chairman of the IPDC planning committee and national sales manager for Cinpres Gas Injection.

The APP is the successor to SPI's Structural Plastics Division and for 35 years has sponsored a design competition renowned in North America as a showplace for innovative plastic products. The IPDC is the first such competition to be international in scope and open to the full range of applications, from automotive to packaging
