Almost 1500 People Attend ANTEC 2009 Conference and SPE Seminar Program

The combined attendance of the Society of Plastics Engineers' ANTEC 2009 conference and the SPE seminar program reached 1,487, SPE announced today. The events were co-located with the NPE2009 trade show, held in Chicago in the week of June 22, 2009.

It was the first time in the history of the annual ANTEC that the event was co-located with NPE, noted SPE senior event manager Lesley Kyle, and as a result ANTEC 2009 was not accompanied by the exhibits usually associated with the conference. "This year's attendance of nearly 1,500 is roughly equivalent to recent past totals, after factoring out the 700 to 1,000 people who typically attended the exhibits but not the conference," said Kyle.

A total of 750 original, peer-reviewed technical presentations were made at ANTEC 2009, covering every sector of the plastics industry and including unprecedented numbers of papers on bioplastics and nanocomposites. "SPE has received universally strong positive feedback on the breadth and quality of this year's ANTEC presentations," said Susan Oderwald, executive director of SPE. "We intend to build on that momentum in preparing for ANTEC 2010."

ANTEC 2010 will be held in Orlando, Florida, May 16-20, at the Marriott World Center Resort. More information on the ANTEC Conference is available at www.antec.ws, or www.4spe.org, or by calling Lesley Kyle.
